We've done a lot of thinking about the type of content we want to see and experience at FutureM; it can't just be a repeat of the same old ideas and theories. We want to provide genuine value and tangible learning points. We want our community to leave FutureM events with true insight into the future of marketing. We want to feature Boston as the place where marketing innovation is being created. Thankfully, we have great thinkers to help us create content that meets these goals. After all, at its core, FutureM is a collaborative event experience, not just another traditional conference.
In his recent blog post "It's Time to Tackle the Unlearning Challenge," Mike Troiano discusses the type of learning he'd like to provide during FutureM. Mike is President at Holland-Mark Digital and is a great example of Boston's leading thinkers. In his blog post, he theorizes that in order to truly learn and understand social media, we have to go through a process of "unlearning" and "relearning." We look forward to how this cognitive process will be shared during the event he's helping to create for FutureM. Read on for more of his insight.
Mike mentions another leading marketing leader in Boston: Edward Boches - Mullen's Chief Social Media Officer and Chief Creative Officer. Edward is also contributing events to FutureM and wrote about his participation in his own post, "Boston's FutureM: Will it be the next big event?" In addition to contributing to the "unlearning" of social media program mentioned above, he is creating two additional sessions: one on how GenY sees the future of marketing and one about forward-thinking brands in Boston. Though still in the early stages of planning you can read more about his thoughts on these sessions here.
As Boches touched on, one of the most important aspects of FutureM is that it is a collaborative venture that we hope will be the next big marketing conference. We're looking for more leaders like Mike and Edward to work with us and create events that address what's new and what's next in Boston. Share your ideas below - or, better yet, submit an event. We look forward to hearing your ideas.

The Future of Marketing is right here in Boston. Here are some recent blog posts:
Brian Halligan from Hubspot on Boston being the "Hub" of Marketing: http://www.hubspot.com/blog/bid/6102/FutureM-Boston-As-The-Hub-Of-Marketing
Brian's thoughts were the original inspiration for FutureM. This initiative is all about greater Boston being recognized as an innovation hub and leading center for the future of marketing. And in years to come, leading marketers will descend on Boston every fall to share, learn and understand where marketing is headed.
Anita Tandon at HollandMark's post on what makes FutureM different: http://www.holland-mark.com/blog/2010/06/future-m/
We've gotten many questions on how FutureM will actually work. FutureM is not your regular conference. It's open source - anyone can contribute and submit an event to host during the week. FutureM events will run throughout the week in various venues and locations, and there will be a variety of formats and content. Why so varied? Anita stated it perfectly: "because the best ideas rarely get created around a podium."
Get involved with FutureM - plan a marketing related event, sponsor FutureM, serve as a location host, or volunteer.

Simply put, FutureM is about the future of Marketing. Marketing - in its constantly evolving state - that creates a dialogue, provides actual value to the consumer, and fuels business innovation.
The inspiration behind FutureM came from another important "M" - Massachusetts.
It started with the premise held (and proven) by many that Massachusetts is home to some of the world's top marketing thinkers; our technologists are building leading platforms in video, mobile and social media; we're analytics rich; leaders in user experience; pioneers in online communities and social networks. Add to that an intelligent workforce and a rich pipeline of upcoming leaders in our schools.
The avenue of the next century is being created right here.
With the help and encouragement of some great minds, we at MITX created FutureM to build upon that great premise with the vision of creating a world class experience of events and dialogue that establishes greater Boston as the center place for discussion.
The second premise behind FutureM is that it is a collaborative effort and the sum of many parts. All interested individuals, companies, organizations, venture firms, university groups and clubs are invited to host marketing related events during the week.
FutureM kicks off with some fantastic partners - Mobile Mondays, Hubspot, Inbound Marketing Summit, Flybridge Capital & Highland Capital's Marketing 2.0 Bootcamp, Technology Review, Jordan Edmiston Group, MassChallenge and MediaPost Communications to name a few. And stay tuned, we'll unveil events regularly as they develop over the next four months.
Play a role in the future and be a part of FutureM.
